Episode 031 – Mad Love

March 21, 2023
In 1995, Drew Barrymore & Chris O’Donnell went on the “ultimate ride” in the movie Mad Love. Drewbies of the day were totally enamored with her performance as wildflower Casey Roberts, who is struggling with bipolar disorder while experiencing her first love. Even in the year 2023, this movie and character mean still mean so much to so many, including us! We hope you enjoy our in-depth discussion on the film, which includes exclusive information on dozens of edited and deleted scenes. We also get into the super 90s soundtrack, the dialogue lines that always make us laugh, and praise for Matthew Lillard’s small role.

  1. Hi ladies. I’m Adrienne, from Canada.
Recently I started following your Drewseum & podcast, I’m so enjoying them. 1995 was a huge Drew year for me, Boys On The Side & Mad Love are two of my favorite Drew films.

I just turned 53 this past week, I’m a Pisces,
(like Drew) and I had to reach out because I am so in love with Mad Love and would love to read the script (it’s been impossible to find). In recently years I have been collecting scripts to films I love that went through major changes during production (The Craft is a favourite). I saw Mad Love in the theatre twice, in May 1995, I still have my receipt somewhere.

I was only 23 in 1995, I’m 53 now, did I say that? Mad Love always left a strong impression on me. If possible, can we please make some arrangement for me to be able to get a copy of the script? I wouldn’t share it, it would be for my own longstanding Drew appreciation. I know the film went through changes and I always try finding info on yeh cuts. I have the Bluray from KinoLober(?) which I bought for the commentary. Interesting but the trailer and lobby cards online show more cut footage. Anyways, great job. ❤️
